Shiny and New: The Evolution of ISG and ArcelorMittal Steel
2008
| Case No.
E285
Looking at two companies, ISG and ArcelorMittal, the case examines the steel industry over several decades, but with an emphasis on the 2000-2004 timeframe, when heavy international consolidation affected dozens of mills and mini-mills. ISG’s take-over and turn-around of LTV were widely viewed as phenomenal successes in large part due to an innovative combination of HR practices implemented by financier Wilbur L. Ross, Jr. and steel veteran Rodney Mott.
